PRESS RELEASE #2:
Breaking News Advisory
Extensive Archive on Grenier Defamation Lawsuit “Goes Live” Today – March 1, 2013.
A team of volunteers has put together a significant resource on the lawsuit of Grenier & Grenier v. Taylor & Grenier. The Grenier Defamation Lawsuit Archive contains such features as:
- Key Facts: People, Dates, and Documents.
- Media FAQs.
- Historical Narrative of Alex Grenier’s Attempts to Hold Bob Grenier Accountable.
- Bibliography on the Grenier Lawsuit, Calvary Chapel Franchise, and #WWJS? Campaign.
- Tutorial on “Defamation/SLAPP Lawsuits for Dummies.”
It also includes press releases and other records from the #WhoWouldJesusSue media campaign related to this case.
The Archive is housed on Alex Grenier’s Calvary Chapel Abuse blog. He launched this blog in July 2010 “as my last resort” when all other attempts since 2004 have failed in confronting his step-father Bob over alleged child physical abuse inflicted on his sons, child sexual abuse of his son Paul, and “eccelesiastical corruption” at the church he has pastored since the 1970s.
According to Alex Grenier’s volunteer team: “The Archive writers and editors have sought to be as factual and fair as possible in presenting historical events and in representing all sides accurately. However, there is a distinct bias and the material here is written from the perspective of the defendants, Tim Taylor and Alex Grenier.”
This Archive is based on a similar one produced after the 2012 case of Beaverton Grace Bible Church v. Smith. In that defamation lawsuit, an Oregon pastor and his church sued five defendants for $500,000 for posting online Google Reviews and blog comments alleging church leadership to be “spiritually abusive.” An anti-SLAPP motion was filed and approved, ending that lawsuit as unsubstantiated and frivolous.
This defamation lawsuit was filed on October 17, 2012, by Bob Grenier, Pastor of Calvary Chapel Visalia (California), and his wife Gayle, alleging former church member Tim Taylor and step-son/son Alex Grenier committed “Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress,” “Defamation,” and “Conspiracy to Defame.”
An anti-SLAPP motion was filed on December 17, 2012, and a tentative decision on the matter is due from California Superior Court Judge Paul Anthony Vortmann. A tentative decision is due to be posted March 4, 2013, followed by a court hearing on March 5.

Ms. Smith was the main defendant in the 2012 Oregon case of Beaverton Grace Bible Church v. Smith. Her former pastor and church sued Ms. Smith and four other defendants for $500,000 over claims of defamatory statements posted online about spiritual abuse by the church and its leaders. As in this California case of Grenier & Grenier v. Taylor and Grenier, an anti-SLAPP motion was filed in BGBC v. Smith. So there are significant parallels between the two lawsuits. Ms. Smith now blogs at Spiritual Sounding Board, a site focused on advocacy for survivors of spiritually abusive pastors, churches, ministries, and movements.

WTG #WWJS team! After having gone through a lawsuit, I understand the value of this documentation. People who are spiritually abused often get stuck in the emotion of the abuse. However, it is important to step outside of that emotion and be proactive in protecting and preserving key information in the event of a lawsuit.
In this case, Pastor Bob Grenier sued Alex Grenier and Tim Taylor. In Sovereign Grace Ministries lawsuit, victims sued the church and pastors because of failure to report, etc. In both of these church-related lawsuits, documentation is crucial so that important details of accounts are preserved. #WWJS has laid the groundwork for this important work for the Spiritual Abuse Survivor community. This is our gift to the Spiritual Abuse Survivor community.

Personally, I would just like to see Jesus lay each corrupt church to waste, rubble, sand, dirt, IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO SEE HOW MANY WOULD BE LEFT STANDING? True church would deal with it’s items Matthew 18:15-17, because they have a fear of the Lord=wisdom. Obviously, to the false church it’s a business and a way to keep them in a lifestyle, mortages paid, chidren’s education paid, drive nice cars, take great vacations, live in wonderful homes, maybe have planes, motorcycles, cabins off the people’s money that they led down a very wrong path. (you’re NOT going to mess with the way they have money coming in AT ALL)! SAD, the church isn’t HOLY, it’s full of holes, but it’s not HOLY!
I could have sat in foursquare/assembly of god/vineyard moment and the would have NEVER GONE THROUGH THE BIBLE FROM BIRTH TO DEATH, NOT ONCE; PEOPLE ARE CONTENT WITH THAT? STORIES we got stories! Having been in Calvary Chapel they might have been great in the Bible but they did NOT LIVE THE GOSPEL that they taught. Ask for help for the fatherless, widow, orphan, stranger, homeless, single parents and their children you will get every excuse in the book (I’ve been told we don’t want our time and money going that way in every denomination). Been at it over 45 years. I think Frank Viola writes it well in Pagan Christianity and Austin Miles in Don’t Call Me Brother, it’s how the majority operate Matthew 7:13-14! Spoken of the number as few.

I’d add visiting the sick to your list. When I begged for someone to please visit me during months of serious illness I was told, “We don’t have time to visit the sick. We’re too busy doing ministry.” I was utterly stunned!

Grateful: When friend was sick, she lamented same item to her secular social worker. Social worker came back amazing to her the lack of help and family support also during this time; outsiders who help. I’ve been through what you’ve been through (don’t want wrong prayers or cursed, I had 5 surgeries in 22 months, told very few people). I consider the ones I told, was the remnant (THEY’RE NOT NEGATIVE). Because I go after church items, my family basically abandoned me also Mark 3:35 and Matthew 12:50 (doesn’t that tell you who your brother, mother father sister is etc). Makes me extremely angry, is to sit in the church and what did the families learn except for being stupid religious. One of the main reasons going after the false church to lose their 501c3 is because the people sat in church and didn’t learn anything=didn’t learn christlikeness. We learned rules with NO LOVE!
Try this, I had a single parent with 3 children needing to move and the only day she could do it was Sunday, I couldn’t get anyone to help her in this over 1,000 member church and hugh single group/college group to boot. Excuses were atricious not to mention they had to go and keep the seats/pews warmed, puke, vomit and throw-up. No one Christ that day! Jesus would definately sue the false church who prostitued and whored his name, altar etc.,
People should question if the church is not doing social, charity, humanity and education then it’s a business and self-serving organization and your fulfilling hitler/napolean philanthropic lifestyles, his visions and dreams (most of the false pastors are very unhealed themselves). One of my former churches had over 30 million in a fund, what for? Question their helps to the list above, what evil excuses. One false shepherd said he needed a million a month to the keep building going, for what? We stupid sheeple don’t question what they own, worth, order their 501c3 report and see what they do with the money!
Example: Number of years ago, Foursquare movement sold 2 buildings for 350 million dollars (one building paid 10 million for and sold it for 250 million making 240=where did it go? The other building 100 million). What was really sad, went to a funeral where 5 pastor’s spoke and NOT ONE GAVE THE GOSPEL MESSAGE, wow and the food they served to the family of the deceased was pitiful for ALL THE MONEY THEY MADE OFF THIS ENTIRE FAMILY FOR YEARS. Yet my stupid family is still going and supporting this inane movement. I want to meet the person who wrote article on them: “25 years what a waste”. Not to mention death threatening Richard Rossing to sale/sell out his movie regarding Aimee for 2-2.5 million (he didn’t sell out). The evil powers at be wanted him to lie about Aimee (dead person told her to start the movement=so much insanity and lying. Watch the movie). Took it public to the list of men in christendom=obviously no one cares. Our church was like Peyton Place and worse!
Find out what your church is worth and your entire demonation (not mis-spelled).
Grateful: I’m in a church where no pastor takes a salary and every Sunday they ask me if I need anything or any help and after my surgeries they were there to bring food and clean my place, THEY TRULY LIVED THE GOSPEL. I can call them up to even help my neighborhood and they’re there and have NEVER DROPPED THE BALL! It’s impacting my neighborhood to see a church that finally lives the gospel in every area! NOT TALKING ABOUT IT BUT LIVING IT=LIVING CHRIST!

Grateful: I remember Danny begging someone to visit him while he was dying of aids from one of my former movements. They obviously forgot to see movie “Brother Son, Sister Moon”, let alone their Bibles. What about Matthew 25:31-end? Also, someone from a church finally said I see what you’ve saying/screaming about written. An elderly couple in their church needed to move and this church was over 2,200 people, couldn’t get anyone.
Young woman’s lament, was she had left church and no one contact her ever in the 9 months that she left, she came back to berate the group (very large group).
Toxic Faith by Stephen Arterburn one of many!
