Luke 7: 36-50

Now one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, so he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. When a woman who had lived a sinful life in that town learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, she brought an alabaster jar of perfume, and as she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and pour perfume on them.

When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is – that she is a sinner.”

Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.” “Tell me, teacher,” he said.

“Two men owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he canceled the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?”

Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt canceled.” “You have judged correctly,” Jesus said.

Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven – for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little.”

Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” The other guests began to say among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?” Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you: wherever he may send you;

may he guide you through the wilderness: protect you from the storm;

may he bring you home rejoicing: at the wonders he has shown you;

may he bring you home rejoicing: once again into our doors.

  1. Thank you Kathi, You do not disappoint!! You know how to get a party started for the Lord. Was that Tennessee Ernie Ford intro to Andrae Crouch?

    I started listening to the music and started thinking about someone who hasn’t been here for a while. I believe his name is John. I have spent more time in the hospital this past week and I know he was in one quite often for various health issues . So John, no matter where you are brother, I’m thinking of you.

  4. I thought about John last week too. Hope you are doing okay Brenda! Having spent a lot of time in hospitals at my husbands bedside I know how draining they can be. Loved the service this morning Kathi!

  5. This morning I went out to pull weeds before it got too hot. It’s supposed to hit 96 today, with a heat index of 110. I made it 45 minutes, but it wasn’t the heat that made me give up. It was the mosquitoes! In spite of leggings, an Off clip-on and two layers of bug spray, I now have at least 10 bites on my legs. But my hill looks great!

    Also want to let you know that I am healing frombeing trapped by “the rules”, which I post about a few weeks ago. I have so much more peace, and it is very welcome. Thank you for your support, with your posts here and on Facebook. I very much appreciate it!

  6. I’m ok, Gail. It’s not my idea of a nice hotel and they kept wanting to stick me with needles for 48 hours. They came in, woke me up to see if I wanted something to help me sleep. Yes, Yes I do—-stay out of the room!! What’s that all about anyways? lol I hope your husband is alright.

  8. I have missed interacting with everyone over the past week! I also feel like I’m way behind on reading and what’s happening. But, I admit, I really am glad to take a break from it all.

    Please know, though, that I’m thinking of you all way across the pond. You’ll be in my prayers over this week.

  9. Julie Anne,
    I went through a domino effect with doctor’s passing me along after having upper chest pain that went into my throat. After much torture, they tell me my heart is healthy and sent me home with instructions to see my family doctor (next Friday), who I have not met. My doc had to retire due to his own health issues. I still have pain in my chest and rib cage but it is not constant. I would pray for the docs wisdom and discernment. They are only practicing medicine and I have a lot of health issues that seem to overlap each other. It is totally possible that one of the autoimmune problems is bringing on something new. Only God knows.

    Even more so, my daughter is pregnant again. Much faster than they expected. She sees the OB tomorrow. They still haven’t figured out all of the problems from the last go around.

  11. Brenda, Oh boy, I hear you. “Stay out of my room”. Let me sleep. Hospitals are the last place to get a good nights sleep. So sorry that you are having pain in your rib & chest. Has to be scary.

    Prayers for you & your sweet grand baby . I hope with all my heart that your daughter can give birth to a beautiful newborn …

    You are a warrior, IMHO.

    My husband is doing remarkably well, we spent so many years in hospitals, surgeries, wheelchairs, pic lines… As you said: Only God knows.

    I never dreamed when we were in the midst of all of his suffering that we would be here today. He is amazing & so is God.

    That said, I earned my caregiving badge. I have probably rambled way too much. Bless you Brenda!

  13. God is so good through it all. There are so many warriors here. Gail, standing by your man when things were not pretty, YOU ROCK. The anti-husband liked me even less when I was diagnosed. I don’t miss him one little bit. Now, I have had a 1st and 2nd date in the last week with a man who likes me just as I am!! JA, I didn’t need this site for dating purposes. Amen!!!! Kathi, I covet your prayers.

    If someone can tell me why WordPress hates me or how I get it turned back on, that would be nice. Nothing is coming to my inbox from this site or ACFJ.

  14. So after reading all the other comments, my complaint sounds petty. But my favorite duck disappeared yesterday. No blood, no feathers, nothing. He’s just gone.

    His disappearance doesn’t fit the profile for any of the predators here. The worst part is not knowing what happened. I’d rather know he was eaten by a coyote than go on wondering if he was abducted by a swamp thing!!

    I really do feel sad for other people, but he was my favorite duck. My little brown drake, Edred, with his wry tail and silly disposition.

    If someone stole him, I hope he pokes their eyes out.

  15. With Hazel – that is not petty at all. It’s hard losing something beloved to you, no matter who or what it is. I hope your little friend finds the way home to you.
