We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen.
We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life.
This one who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen him.
And now we testify and proclaim to you that he is the one who is eternal life.
He was with the Father, and then he was revealed to us.
We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us.
And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
We are writing these things so that you may fully share our joy.
1 John 1:1-4 NLT

JA, The picture, verses and song go together beautifully. Good Word.
I am on day 5 of antibiotics for the never ending sinus infection and perpetual cough. Most are not contagious, but my doc went out of her way to reinforce that mine is!! I was debating whether or not to go to church, but I think I’ve already been there. Thank you.

At my new job I spend all of my time analyzing data and listening to podcasts. I decided to listen to a mix of current event podcasts, political, history, economic, and tech podcasts. Unfortunately most of the smartest, out spoken, or most creative people on these podcasts are usually atheist that have a different view on most everything then I was raised to.
This bothered me so I tried finding a podcast from a Christian perspective that discussed current events among other things and couldn’t find anything nearly as good to listen to.
This brings up a few questions – why aren’t Christians bigger and better in the podcast world and why is it that the more informed and eloquent people are those that are the opposite of my worldview?
And there are a ton of questions that I could ask that would point to some of the stuff I’ve been listening to…
Hers w list of my current podcasts:
This american life
Joe rogan experience
Stuff you should know
NPR wait wait don’t tell me
Slates the gist
Slate’s political gabfest
Dan Carlin’s common sense
Dan Carlin’s hardcore history
Frakonomics
A free Christian podcasts I’ve tried
Steve deace show
Dave Ramsey show
Wretched radio
The briefing
White horse inn
Why do Christian shows have to either be sermons or something directly Christian (a story of a missionary in Iraq)? Why can’t it be…. Here’s what’s happening today and here’s my non-cultlike-doug-phillips opinion on how to respond….

Brenda, I hope the antibiotics kick in and work well for you. There are some nasty bugs going around. I’m glad you liked today’s selections. I was pleased to find this acoustic version of Oceans. I’m partial to acoustic and the simplistic beauty.

Brenda, I hope you are feeling better soon.
I found a beautiful video of one of my favorite songs. It continues to speak to me on the days when the inner pain is so overwhelming. It also contains the lyrics for those unfamiliar with “The Prayer.”

I share your desire for “non-cult-like” Christian newscasters. On the Christian Post it seems that most people who comment on current events are pastors or already well-known Christian leaders of some venue. My cynical side (which grows larger every day) tells me the reason there are fewer “non-cult” Christian commentators is that no one (relatively speaking) cares about the little voices, and the big voices bring in the $$ and political clout.
I would love to start podcasting, but I need the equipment first, a $300 investment or more and too much for me for now. You are welcomes to check out my “pre-podcast” blog http://llawrenceauthor.wordpress.com/

@goosemon:
Since you’ve got all day at work, try:
Phil Vischer Podcast (Christianity and culture)
Happy Rant Podcast (sports, parenting, church life)
That God Show (last week’s on violence/war was good)
Michael Gungor (sex and marriage)
Nadia Bolz-Weber (admittedly a sermon, but <15 min. and always interesting)

BTDT & JA Thank you for your well wishes. Prayers are always appreciated. I leave for FL on Friday for my daughter’s wedding and would sure appreciate this plague being gone before I leave. I don’t need to be the cause of the bridge and groom being sick.
