Luke 11: 29 – 53

As the crowds increased, Jesus said, “This is a wicked generation. It asks for a miraculous sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah. For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also will the Son of Man be to this generation. The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with the men of this generation and condemn them; for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon’s wisdom, and now one greater than Solomon is here. The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now one greater than Jonah is here.

“No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead he puts it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are bad, your body also is full of darkness. Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp shines on you.”

When Jesus had finished speaking, a Pharisee invited him to eat with him; so he went and reclined at the table. But the Pharisee, noticing that Jesus did not first wash before the meal, was surprised. The Lord said to him, “No then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness. You foolish people! Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also? But give what is inside the dish to the poor, and everything will be clean for you.

“Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.Woe to you Pharisees, because you love the most important seats in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplace. Woe to you, because you are like unmarked graves, which men walk over without knowing it.”

One of the experts in the law answered him, “Teacher, when you say these things, you insult us also.” Jesus replied, “And you experts in the law, woe to you, because you load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift one finger to help them.

“Woe to you, because you build tombs for the prophets, and it was your forefathers who killed them. So you testify that you approve of what your forefathers did; they killed the prophets, and you build their tombs. Because of this, God in his wisdom said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and others they will persecute.’ Therefore this generation will be held responsible for the blood of all the prophets that has been shed since the beginning of the world, from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the sanctuary. Yes, I tell you, this generation will be held responsible for it all.

“Woe to you experts in the law, because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering.”

When Jesus left there, the Pharisees and the teachers of the law began to oppose him fiercely and to besiege him with questions, waiting to catch him in something he might say.

 Isaiah 61: 8

“For I, the Lord, love justice; I hate robbery and iniquity. In my faithfulness I will reward them and make an everlasting covenant with them.”

  1. Praises be to our LORD Jesus, the Christ, this morning, for what He has done for us. His love is unconditional as He came, not to condemn the world, but to save all whom place their trust in Him, alone, for salvation. John 3:16-17

A wonderful place to begin this Sunday morn, with those life saving Scriptures accompanied by an incredible pic of what the LORD hath made…..love the pic Kathi. Loving this whole service for the Body of Christ here, that God, the Holy Spirit has led you too in presenting this to us. Appreciate the blessing in every fiber of my being.

God’s Word tells us to be “clothed in humility,” and humbly serve our Glorious, Majestic God. Thank-you, oh, thank-you for reminding me here, that I am, we are, so loved by the King. Just when I begin to doubt, He sends another faithful servant to remind me of His great love for His people.

Just overwhelmed by His love and peace this morn. May our LORD bless you.

  2. Nature calms me down. Some days after reading twitter/blogs I have to get outside & let it work its magic on me. Kathi, I loved the video, New every morning, brought Psalm 29:3 to mind.

If and when anyone has the time to read @NateSparks130 Love, Respect, Proof-Texts Emerson Eggerich. Nate is doing a 4 part series on Love & Respect book.

There is so much to unlearn after being indoctrinated for 20 some years. His article educated me on facts that I was unaware of. A few more chains fell of this morning after reading his article.

See, Emerson was my X pastor, we attended his church for ten years. I am still recovering from the confusion his teachings brought to my wounded, PTSD, abused CSA, survivor’s soul.

Yes, I have come a long ways, but still have days when I collapse into a deep sorrow that saps my strength. ( Between nature & my blessed grandchildren and a few other gifts from above I don’t stay in that prison as long as I use too. Thank God)

I am also thankful for all the men and women who have served & sacrificed for our freedoms. I hope all have a Blessed Memorial Day. Gail

  4. I went to my therapist Friday afternoon and had a frank discussion with her. I told her I didn’t want to continue with anymore Prolonged Exposure Therapy. It was re-traumatizing me every week and I was not progressing like I was supposed to be. She said it’s because I never was permitted to properly grieve, and have stuffed my grief inside for 25 years without going through the grieving process. So that’s what we’ll work on now. Grief therapy.
