I can’t remember where I came across this video, but Aric Clark made me think outside my evangelical fundy box when it comes to what the Bible teaches about women. I couldn’t find anything about Aric except from his Twitter profile: Social Justice Cleric and he’s in Kathi’s area – Portland.

Only TEN positive messages in the whole book to counteract the hundreds of negative messages against women . . . how depressing. As I’ve stated before, that book was written BY men FOR men – what would anyone expect??

I believe that God puts women in positions in which they discover what is within themselves, capable of any task. For years, I relied on the Bible and evangelical Christianity to format a role for myself in family, church, society. Now life and beliefs have collided. For the remaining years walking on this side of eternity, the path I follow will be no longer directed by that which is outside of me. I understand how women follow the Bible and evangelical Christianity. I tried it. Set free from that now. As for the video content. Except for the descriptors of “gotta” and others that seem like a mandated adverb like it can be no other way, I could sit through this without hitting pause.

This was good! I would add that in 1 Corinthians 12 we are told that the Spirit bestows gifts upon people. The chapter starts with, “Now about spiritual gifts, brothers and sisters…” The spirit does not bestow gifts based upon specific body parts. So, yes, a woman can give a message of knowledge. Verse 11: “All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.”

Women have arisen to the occasion in many places and in many cultures and have amazed themselves once they have gotten into the task that has presented itself.

Here’s a great article by conservative Baptist pastor Wade Burleson (Enid, OK.) about these errors being taught that women aren’t supposed to teach men.
Wade is a fair-minded man and is the pastor for E-Church on Sundays over at The Wartburg Watch (which also deals with spiritual abuse).
