In light of this past week’s events, the following is for reflection:

Deuteronomy 16: 18-20

Appoint judges and officials for each of your tribes in every town the Lord your God is giving you, and they shall judge the people fairly. Do not pervert justice or show partiality. Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous. Follow justice and justice alone, so that you may live and possess the land the Lord your God is giving you.

Proverbs 28:5

Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the Lord understand it fully.

Proverbs 28: 13

He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

Psalm 106: 1-3

Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the Lord or fully declare his praise? Blessed are they who maintain justice, who constantly do what is right.

Revelation 2: 12-16

To the angel of the church in Pergamum write: These are the words of him who has the sharp, double-edged sword. I know where you live – where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to my name. You did not renounce your faith in me, even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness, who was put to death in your city – where Satan lives.

Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: You have people there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin by eating food sacrificed to idols and by committing sexual immorality. Likewise, you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Repent therefore! Otherwise I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you: wherever he may send you;

may he guide you through the wilderness: protect you from the storm;

may he bring you home rejoicing: at the wonders he has shown you;

may he bring you home rejoicing: once again into our doors.

  1. Brenda, I sent out an e-mail. The last e-mail I received was mid-March. I told him we’re thinking and praying for him. I’ll let you know if I hear anything. Thanks for asking.

  2. This is a beautiful flash mob from South Africa – Soweto Gospel Choir – that I have been waiting to share with you all week. It’s a tribute to Nelson Mandela, called by his tribal name “Madiba”.

  3. Thanks Kathi for putting together today’s Scripture verses and videos! You did a great job.

    Thanks Julie Anne for your work on this story out of Idaho. I can see why you woke up from your nap angry. I have had nightmares!

  4. Today’s post was a bit more “targeted,” if you’d like to use that term. I thought of the Bayly post recently about how women should not be rebuking men in leadership. Funny how the verses that reflect justice and standing up for right behavior are in the very same Bible that these “men of God” claim that supports why women should not hold men accountable. Imagine that!

  5. Hi Kathi,
    Good for you!
    Yes, I saw the Bayly post – I’d never heard of him before a couple of days ago – and it’s no wonder that my even my conservative Christian friends in Europe (men who are long-time elders) have said with alarm, “Something is wrong with American Christianity. It has more in common with radical Islam.”

  6. Yes, these men dare to be upset over women holding a man accountable when they themselves are not willing to hold a man accountable.

    Galatians 6:7-10 (from Paul)

    Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

  7. Velour,
    Thank you for the videos, it is such an awesome switch from the heinous activities learned about this past week. God help us from that evil.

    Kathi,
    I have reread the scripture reading a couple of times. It is packed full of what God thinks about the goings on of the teachings of false menagawd leading the sheep astray.
