Luke 18: 1-8

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.

He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’

“For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care about men, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually wear me out with her coming!'”

And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you: wherever he may send you;

may he guide you through the wilderness: protect you from the storm;

may he bring you home rejoicing: at the wonders he has shown you;

may he bring you home rejoicing: once again into our doors.

  1. Details, details, it is June 7th. Feel free to delete this after the date is corrected and no judgement here, it’s something I see myself doing.

  2. Lol, thanks! I always appreciate it when people let me know of typos.

    And thanks, Kathi, for posting this even while your week has been so busy!

  3. I hope we were back to maybe March. This year is going by too quickly.

    Kathi, Love your choices for the day. The first song, I closed my eyes and let the musicians take me away.

  4. Oh, goodness guys! I did this during the middle of last week because this weekend has been crazy busy. I remember sitting and trying to figure out the date, but spaced it on the month! LOL! I feel like I could sleep through whatever month it was that I put up there – or, maybe I did! 🙂

  5. Oh my … crazy days?? We’ve all had them!
    I was drawn to Sharon Gerber’s cello “Your Love is More” … went on her website and am now realizing why her music resonates with such “feeling” … she alludes to her ‘dark times over the past few years…’ Not sure what she endured but she is grateful to those who reached out and were there for her … This is so badly needed and it is sad that so many ‘professing Christians’ aren’t really there for us.
    Lord, thank you, thank you for Your love and strength.

  6. Something special happened yesterday. I was out shopping and met a man who is being spiritually abused. He was helping me find something for our beach house and since we are apparently both chatty people, he asked me if I had found a local church to attend. He did not recommend his. He and his wife have had a longtime personal mission preaching the Gospel and providing practical assistance to the homeless. Now, however, the current pastor of his church is telling them that all their efforts should be directed at giving to and volunteering at the church. They do contribute and volunteer but the pastor wants more. The pastor sees no point in evangelizing and now members of the church are contacting him to scold him. He says the church has become very legalistic.

    Thanks to this blog and Wartburg Watch, I understood what was going on. Two years ago I would not have known. I talked about changes in what is being taught in the seminaries and why I think these new hierarchical models are not Biblical. Most important, I reassured him that the Holy Spirit speaks directly to believers and does not use pastors as mediators. If he and his wife feel led to continue this mission – and they do – then they should regardless of what that pastor tells them. He was happy and said that God had put us together for that talk. And God sent me here and so it goes forward. Thank you Julie Anne.

  7. Once again I have no idea what was preached today. But this time it isn’t because I wasn’t listening. :/

  8. Marsha, what a great story. Your meeting sure sounds like a God thing! I’m so thankful for those who participate in this online community and who are making a difference in the world.

    I’m in Southern CA right now and attended a beautiful wedding. The bride had told her pastor about SSB and he sat down and talked with me a bit. He had never heard of pastors who abuse and was very saddened and shocked to hear that so much of it exists. This guy was really listening and trying to understand and you could hear the compassion in his responses. What a great heart.

  9. Marsha – Thank you for sharing your encounter. I have been made to feel so guilty for not recommending any of the local churches. May this couple continue to press on in spreading The Good News.
    And Julie Anne – How very, very encouraging to have a pastor show genuine interest in you and wanting to hear “more”. I am somewhat amazed that he wasn’t aware of pastors who abuse as it is being exposed at an alarming rate.

  10. HealingInHim, I have a hunch he actually spends his time pastoring and not so much time online. I think he’s the real deal. He revealed his heart by the questions he asked. I was so impressed.
