Psalm 5

Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my sighing.

Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.

In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice;

in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.

You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell.

The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong.

You destroy those who tell lies; bloodthirsty and deceitful men the Lord abhors.

But I, by your great mercy, will come into your house;

in reverence will I bow down toward your holy temple.

Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies –

make straight your way before me.

Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with destruction.

Their throat is an open grave; with their tongue they speak deceit.

Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall.

Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.

But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy.

Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.

Fore surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.

Feel free to join the discussion.
You can share your church struggles and concerns.
Let’s also use it as a time to encourage one another spiritually.

  1. I apologize for the late posting this morning. It was scheduled to go out in the wee hours of the morning but for some reason did not. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

  2. Thank you Kathi. I have come to look forward to the Sunday post. The picture looks a little like what I see out my window, but with more snow. Right now we have freezing rain, so I am staying in. I tried to go out, but was sliding to my car. So inside I stay for today.

  3. Thank you, Kathi for posting the SSB gatherings for the last few weeks. Brian’s picture is gorgeous – – as usual. One thing about living in the desert is that I really miss seeing green (don’t miss the rain, however). But that shot with majestic trees with the sun’s rays shining through is breathtaking..

  4. Julie Anne – That was a “by chance” shot. He came around the corner of the road and he had to stop.

    I’m sure you are not missing the rain we’ve had this past week/weekend. We’ve had almost 3 inches of rain so far and more to come!

  5. I’m watching the Grammy Awards. Was just floored to listen to them take on rape and domestic violence and call people to action. If the church is going to remain silent on the issue it seems that even the rocks will cry out.

  6. I don’t watch the Grammys. I sure wish I would have watched this one. So right BTDT, the church won’t talk, somebody has to.

    Here is a video of the speech given by Brooke Axtell at the 2015 Grammys last night. (I bookmarked another video to post here, but it’s disappeared. I hope this one stays up for a while.) If you google her name, she is not only a survivor of domestic violence but also of sex trafficking when she was seven years old. Today she is a victims’ advocate for both. I’ve watched this video a half dozen times and tear up every time. It’s very powerful.

  8. BTDT,
    That was amazing. She said it all in a very short speech. It breaks my heart to know what she went through. It was bad enough for me with the evil stepfather. I can’t even imagine having a parade of men coming through. She is a good face for advocacy.
