After telling this story, Jesus went on toward Jerusalem, walking ahead of his disciples.

As he came to the towns of Bethphage and Bethany on the Mount of Olives, he sent two disciples ahead.

 “Go into that village over there,” he told them. “As you enter it, you will see a young donkey tied there that no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.

If anyone asks, ‘Why are you untying that colt?’ just say, ‘The Lord needs it.’”

So they went and found the colt, just as Jesus had said.

And sure enough, as they were untying it, the owners asked them, “Why are you untying that colt?”

And the disciples simply replied, “The Lord needs it.”

So they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their garments over it for him to ride on.

As he rode along, the crowds spread out their garments on the road ahead of him.

When he reached the place where the road started down the Mount of Olives, all of his followers began to shout and sing as they walked along, praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had seen.

 “Blessings on the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in highest heaven!”

But some of the Pharisees among the crowd said, “Teacher, rebuke your followers for saying things like that!”

He replied, “If they kept quiet, the stones along the road would burst into cheers!”

Luke 19:28-40

  1. Praising God with my whole heart, mind and soul. He IS God and that makes all the difference for me. I am slowly learning that I don’t have to sit in a pew (or direct a choir, or teach a class) to fellowship on Sundays. Years of being in church 3-4 times a week are just a very bad substitute for truly meeting with God on my front porch. I am grateful to this community for showing me that I need not be guilty for stepping away from the abuse of my legalistic church and it’s narcissistic leader. May you be blessed today by Him.

  2. Thank you, Deb. It’s nice to feel freedom from the legalism of church attendance, that’s for sure. I still go to church, but it doesn’t feel like it used to. God’s grace is good and He knows where my heart is.

  3. Hi Deb and Julie Anne

    A big amen… This took me time also…
    “I am slowly learning that I don’t have to **sit in a pew**
    (or direct a choir, or teach a class) **to fellowship on Sundays.**”

    It became an addiction being in the building 3-4-5 times a week…
    It was very hard to stop… When I did stop, then came the guilts, withdrawal…
    BUT – “He IS God and that makes all the difference for me.”

    And for me, now, the main focus is fellowship with – {{{{{{ Jesus }}}}}}

    And {{{{{{ Jesus }}}}}} is always with me…
    And {{{{{{ Jesus }}}}}} now calls me – Friend…
    And {{{{{{ Jesus }}}}}} my Friend, went to “The C.R.O.S.S.” for me…

    And C.hrist R.deems O.ur S.inful S.ouls – On “The C.R.O.S.S.”

    NOT when WE, His Sheep, His Kids, His Friends – **sit in a pew** 😉

    John 15:15
    Henceforth I, {{{{{{ Jesus }}}}}}
    call Deb and Julie Anne NOT servant;
    for the servant know NOT what their lord doeth:
    but I, {{{{{{ Jesus }}}}}}
    have called Deb and Julie Anne, FRIEND…

    James 2:23
    …Deb and Julie Anne believed God,
    and it was imputed unto them for righteousness:
    and Deb and Julie Anne are called the FRIEND of God.

    John 15:13
    Greater love hath no man than this,
    that “The Man,” {{{{{{ Jesus }}}}}}
    lay down his life for his FRIEND,
    Deb and Julie Anne and Amos.

    F.R.I.E.N.D. of God.

    F.reedom R.esides I.n E.very N.ew D.isciple of God

    Who is “called the FRIEND of God.”

  4. I was on the road with my daughter going to Florida this Lord’s Day and He was my pilot. He was in charge of the car when a huge truck decided to slide over into my lane while I had no where to go around the curve. Not ever needing to use the horn of my car, it did not register in my brain to even use it, but the truck moved back over and I was able to accelerate and pass him by. I have to wonder who was more frightened, me because I was close to being pushed over the edge of the road by this massive vehicle and my daughter would not make it to her own wedding or the driver of the truck because he could have done so. The Lord obviously had purpose for all concerned and pray the other driver made his destination safely as I did.
