I don’t have time to put together a “real” post today, so this is just off the top of my head. I’ll come back in later and add links and add a picture later, I’m in a hurry.
The Twitter battle has been raging with Chuck O’Neal upon completion of his recent evangelism conference at Beaverton Grace Bible Church. The speakers included Ken Cook of CARM and Tony Miano. I expected this since I publicly mentioned I was going to be doing a post on the Miano/CARM/Chuck O’Neal connections. It looks like Tony and Chuck are in full-force trying to smear my name. Sometimes it’s nice being a boring Smith. LOL

Chuck is trying his best to find dirt on me and the only thing he can come up with is taken from a comment on an old post. It’s regarding a high school choir trip (I’m accompanist) that I took with kids to Portland. I described my experience of taking Voodoo doughnut orders from the students. Voodoo Doughnut is a “famous” doughnut shop in Portland. I’m not a fan of the place. I don’t get excited about ordering “cocks and balls” doughnuts, nor do I get freaked out. It’s a weird doughnut shop. I think that trip was only my 2nd time, maybe 3rd there. I’m not a doughnut person, but the weird Portland environment keeps the place hopping with locals and tourists.
The students had been talking about going to this place for a while (on previous trips, too). In his blog article, he’s making it sound like I intentionally corrupted poor Mormon children and he feels sorry for them. Go check out Sermon Audio and you’ll see how he really feels about Mormons. Why does he sympathize with Mormon children in this post? Because it’s a great way to get the legitimate negative attention off of him. While he talks about me corrupting children (these were mostly upper class high school students) he uses a cool psychological tool called “projection. ” The reality is he’s attempting to put crap on to me when he knows he failed to report known sex offender, other sex situations at church, and was okay with a sex offender living in the same house with victims, etc. Complete and utter hypocrisy. Who allowed for real corruption and potential abuse of children? There is no abuse by ordering a doughnut with a weird name. No student was forced to order anything. No student was forced to say anything. No student even went to the doughnut shop.
He tells the story that I claimed to “corrupt” the kids (I’m not posting the link to his Impostor Blog here, you’ll have to find it from his tweets.) Not so. Read the context. It was sarcasm and that corrupt word came from my long-time reader, Recovering Pharisee. She was joking. This was approved by the director/teacher – – he ordered his own donut and helped me with ordering and distributing, too.
I now see with all the stalking he does, I’m going to have to add disclaimers like this in my posts: (it’s sarcasm, Chuck, don’t read more into it, K?)
He can’t see sarcasm because he and most likely his followers are looking for dirt on me and anything they can find to divert the attention onto someone else and away from him, the spiritually-abusive wolf. He also has a personal issue with Ed Chapman, calling him names like “pervert.” I don’t worry about Ed. Ed can take care of himself. Ed doesn’t have Twitter and doesn’t need to solicit others to help defend himself.
When reading Chuck’s words, be careful to fact check. His quotes sometimes are not quotes, but his interpretations. His conclusions are clearly his own and do not fit within the context. I have to hand it to Chuck, he does make a CONvincing story. CON is important to note.
Obviously, I am a threat to him. Good. Time to man up, Chuck.
Chuck even decided to tag our old blog “buddy”, Fred Butler in a recent tweet. That probably wasn’t a wise move on Chuck’s part because now we are seeing Fred’s true colors once again. Fred – you didn’t learn your lesson the first time? Wow.
If you recall, last summer, Fred took juicy information from Chuck (or someone from BGBC) and posted nasty gossip about my daughter, Hannah, claiming that she left our home/church because she was in discipline for being sexually immoral. 100% false. She had never even kissed a guy at that time. There was a lot of outrage about Fred’s poor public behavior on the blog. I heard from scores of people who were so outraged they even contacted his church and employer. Remember, Fred is a long-time employee (Grace to You) and Bible teacher at John MacArthur’s church, Grace Community Church. He eventually publicly apologized and then removed the apology a couple of weeks later. Why did he remove it? I’ve got a copy of it. I think these recent tweets might require a time line of events with actual links and screen shots so that people will see the true story. But I don’t have time today. So, I’ll let you all snoop around.

LOL,JA!! I checked out the website for Voodoo donuts. The most sexually suggestive donut was the “Gay Bar” donut with cream filling. There was also one with a pentagram on it that would give me nightmares for a month if I ate it. They do look like good donuts–I had to check to see if they ship to the east coast. Answer=No.

I find it uncomfortable, to say the least, that CON spends what seems to be a disproportionate amount of time tweeting about JA. It’s weird for someone in the position of “pastor”.
And for Butler to be “stepping in the poo” again? How classy Christian. Grace to You wants survivors of spiritual abuse to get to know them in this light? Butler definitely has a way of polarizing non-Christians away from GTY & John MacArthur. As a Christian, I will be sending zero funds to them. They have truly lost their senses. I’d send money to Wade Burleson or COFJ gladly before giving a penny to any church or Christian org. who allows their pastors & reps. to exhibit themselves as bullies.
As a matter of fact, I’ve become incredibly discerning of where my money goes. God wants us to use our brains to be good stewards.

Tom – I’m not sure his current gig can support his family at the current membership, especially after paying $60,000 in attorney bills for just the defense. I don’t know what his own bills were and if he or the church coughed up that money.
I think he’s found a new niche and he’s hoping to literally bank on it. He’s already pulled the wool over the local guys (CARM) and with Miano and is putting the time in at abortion clinics and street evangelizing to prove himself. What the CARM guys refuse to look at is a long history of abuse. More on that later.

Who cares? The fact that they went through the official process of removing his license says something very strong. The fact that they put him in church discipline is also important to note. This man is acting as pastor and currently in church discipline and he is getting to sign book endorsements, interviews, acting like he’s squeaky clean.

There’s a good reason why the WW article was titled, “I’m Not Free From This Guy.” It’s because HE can’t seem to drop you. Why does he feel the need to talk about what kind of donuts you bought. The reality that he’s unwilling and unable to face is that he is a pathetic man. Only a few buy into his persona, the rest of us are able to see through his CONly ways.

Chuck, go ahead and tweet about it. He used to refer to atheists and me when there were so many atheists supporting me after the media got the story. I think he was ticked off because I actually treated those Chuck would call as heathens respectfully. At least he’s being consistent. He and Tony tell women they are murderers if he sees them at abortion clinics. He doesn’t know if their baby suffered fetal demise already. He just assumes the worse. There is no love demonstrated.
He and his followers are having fun tweeting about me being hateful to mothers and children. I think if he said that around my friends IRL, they’d laugh their heads off.
I’ve said it a few times. Watch what he accuses others of doing. He uses psychological projection. When he blasts me about hating women and children, he’s really talking about himself.

In Fred Butler’s recent tweet attempting to discredit you, he refers to you as an “SGM critic.” I suppose that he is sympathetic to SGM, even after everything that has come out about them recently.

If our living God has mercy on him, and brings him to his knee’s through sorrow, suffering, & grief, I pray he has the sense to repent, apologize.
It is sobering to fall into the hands of the living God, HE see’s through all our projection & smokescreens, there is no getting past Him, we should pity Chuck, he can’t pull the wool over God’s eyes and time is short.

Jim, I see a pattern here. CON wants to censor others. He sued JA through legal means. And you’re right. I wouldn’t expect that language or pictures of “porn donuts” on a pastors blog or tweet? Not sure which one. And then to sensor names from quotes of others?
Clearly, CON wants free reign to say & do what he wants, but not for others. EVERYONE, not just Christians, should be VERY concerned about not wanting the right to freedom of speech for some that he, and I would venture to say many in his camp, seems to have. ALL in this country have a right to freedom of speech AND religion.
JA, this is why he is getting support. And why the support is coming from where it’s coming from. It seems this camp does not like freedom of religion, freedom of speech. I am not surprised one bit. It just confirms what I know about the doctrine.
This is a very controlling group, IMO.
And yes, there are controlling pastors here & there outside of Calvinism. But I doubt you’ll find any popular or mainstream pastor or group outside of Calvinism supporting CON.
You could say he’s finding home. Finding his peeps. Finding comfort & fitting in where he belonged all along.

I’m thankful we know where their true allegiance is. But it makes me sick. Protect the institution & leadership over individuals, no matter what. And they differentiate themselves from the Catholic church? It’s no mystery or paradox what unbelievers see, hear & then think.

I find CON disingenuous. He must first find the log in his own eye, before trying to pluck out the splinter in someone else’s eye. Especially if he is a pastor.
He might have been credible, I don’t know. But his lawsuit against JA took all credibility away. Sorry! You don’t censor or try to take someone’s freedom of speech or religion away! Big no no. And from a pastor? Grace Brethren understood this.
And I find Fred Butler’s support telling. GTY & John MacArthur teach letting a grievance slip, to stay out of court, suffer injustice. Fred Butler’s support of CON shows me GTY, MacArthur, & leadership there don’t practice what they preach. Or maybe that message was for the laity alone but not pastors? I’ve lost the respect I once had for them. And I’m sad about that. They will not be receiving any financial support from me. Anyway, it’s crazy to watch Butler repeatedly fail to control his tongue. Julie Anne, it seems, stands in the glorious company of the enemies of John Calvin–enemies who Calvin, apparently out of black-hearted animosity, chose to betray, defame, hound, exclude, lie about, terrorize and persecute to destruction, even to the point of murder. Yes, the historical evidence demonstrates that John Calvin is a murderer. We may count ourselves fortunate that JA’s detractors do not have resort to the slow burning fires at the foot of an executioner’s stake, but make no mistake about it. There are people who are out for Julie Anne’s destruction.
Should we be surprised that so many of the spiritual descendants of John Calvin would use Calvin’s methods in an attempt to impose their (IMO) idolatrously held doctrine, including their concept of a small “g” god that looks a good deal more like the accuser of the brethren than like the God Who is love?
Certainly I am not saying all Calvinists are guilty. However, I would strongly urge that every follower of John Calvin and/or his spiritual children take a long, hard look at the fruit of Calvinism and it’s ideological descendants. Personally, I have made the trip out of hard core Calvinism. I look back and do not like the Gary that was me.

Since Chuck considers them donuts to be porn, he posted the donuts, hence, from his perspective, he just posted porn on his blog. Next, he will probably post a Hustler centerfold to show his band of followers what hard core porn looks like.

You raise an interesting point that I hadn’t thought of before. Chuck is a bit special. I rarely read his blog because I know his dishonesty and the way he twists words/sentences out of context so badly, yet the way he does it is so compelling – like I’ve said – so CONniving. You can get sucked into his magnificent storytelling and immediately lose all reasoning skills.
One funny thing I recall. A while back, my friend and fellow blogger, Alex Grenier (who is also in the middle of a defamation lawsuit brought on by his pastor/father) let loose his very colorful “mouth” onto CON, calling him a d*ck among other choice words. Alex graduated from Masters Seminary, knows their talk and is quite brilliant. Chuck of course used Alex’s unedited words to try to prove how sinful Alex was. So Chuck is keeping that same pattern here. I heard Chuck is also quoting some of you all here, so you better watch your mouths or you might get famous on his ever-so–popular blog that seems to only have comments from his followers last I checked.

Yup, I learned this first hand with my conversation with the Grace Community pastors who asked if I had permission from my husband to be blogging, etc. It was all about protecting pastors first and every spiritual abuse story I mentioned, Bill had a justification for bad behavior. It was sick. I never imagined being so completely invalidated. Now, when I talked with Phil Johnson, he was completely opposite. He validated me, even shared a personal spiritual abuse story with me. But then again, the timing is important. He knew that Dee of Wartburg Watch knew I was going to be talking with him. He also knew that I had a keyboard and blog and could instantly tell of our phone experience. And I was a sucker and believed Phil – – I even wrote a nice piece on our conversation – – – and then I found his Facebook conversation a couple weeks later. He really had no sympathy for spiritually abused. Pastors and their reputation is #1 – – even if pastors screw up their own reputation, they need to cover up for them and their “mistakes.” It was Sovereign, you know.

The reason that Jesus said this was soley for the purpose of hypocrites. NO “MAN” would ever be able to tell Jesus that they never committed adultery. Why? Because EVERY MAN ON THE PLANET looks, EVEN CHUCK. And if he denies it, he’s a liar.

Oh, yes. So gleeful. So juvenile. Actually, CON, since I entered my mid-40’s I’ve never felt more comfortable in my skin. Also, I don’t take myself very seriously (something I think you should learn – it really does help in navigating through life). So, really, when you call me out on your blog, I just don’t care! But, have fun pointing all of us out. Just make sure you take that plank out of your eye first – it will help you to see better.

Johnson is delusional if he thinks what is going on in the Elephant Room even comes close to the spiritual/emotional destruction to victims of SGM. I always have very low blood pressure except when I read comments like his. But you see, anyone who suffers from abuse gets labeled as “bitter” if they can’t immediately “get over it.” It becomes their “sin” issue of unforgiveness and bitterness. The victim becomes the problem and the perpetrator gets off because they followed the steps of asking forgiveness (likely never facing any sort of restitution or legal ramification because it was all kept -in-house).

I remember when I graduated from high school, I worked for the local electric company in word processing. I typed for the engineers who worked on the nuclear power plant and whenever there was any sort of modification to the nuclear plant, there was an enormous amount of paperwork to file for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. I would type stuff like “female and male connectors.” I have to admit, I first laughed at that wording (I was just 17 yrs old) and then realized, yea, it really makes a lot of sense – there is a male piece that fits perfectly into the female part – quite appropriate terminology when you really think about it (altho it may be a distraction to mention those words on the job??? what do I know, I’m not a guy). But anyway, this terminology is commonplace in the workforce. When the engineers were dictating the order list, they did not stop and laugh into the microphone when saying female and male connectors and I didn’t stop and laugh when I typed it. There were no sexual harassment issues regarding those words. It just was.
And then let’s venture on to nature. When looking at certain flowers or nature (bark on a tree, rock formations, etc, sometimes you can picture genitalia. I’m not a guy. I do not get stimulated visually as I’ve heard guys do, but when something is staring at you so obviously as nature, you’ve got to think: why did God do that? Did He really put porn on this earth? Is God contributing to people’s porn problems? Chuck and his folks are freaks about sex. When a teen would get in trouble for “sexual immorality” they were in his office for hours, raked over the coals with Bible verses and then we’d get treated with special series on sexual immorality on Wed. nights.
The issue of sex is a hot one for him. Remember, he won’t ever be caught with a woman alone. However, he sure had no qualms talking with women on the phone for sometimes over an hour while their husbands were at work. Something is out of balance here.

Well, I think he thought he could prevent that from happening. The boys were instructed to divert their eyes from any female joggers on the road. In our family and other families, it became obsessive. Our girls were on the lookout, too, to help their brothers warning them: “jogger up ahead”

To put two fire hoses together, you put the male end in the female end. This is official training.
Not only that, the navy used to use a cooling extension called a “donkey dick”. The navy replaced this firefighting technique in the early 90’s.
This is US NAVY OFFICIAL TERMS used in firefighting.

Looks like CON was not happy with my Aug. 27/13 @ 2:31 PM comment so he crafted this blah blah. I put it out to the community here. I am at a loss to factor in how my enquiry comment on Todd Rhoades site back in Dec., 2012 can be equated with “A perverse sexual slur against BGBC.” Maybe CON needs a new set of glasses so that he can read simple wordy better. Eric – Don’t worry. You’re not missing out on much. I love how he tries to point everyone else out, but he is unwilling to answer questions such as the one I posed at the WW article. He never did answer why he granted an interview with them, and I challenged him on that twice. I think his motives would have not made him look good. He is one who easily will criticize, but isn’t able to handle criticism himself. Maybe I can now officially claim that I’m being persecuted!

I chalk a lot of that up to attempts at self-treatment. Like the one about how a lot of psychiatrists and psychologists are themselves crazy and go into the field so they can self-treat in secret, with nobody ever finding out. Like recovering alcoholic Billy Sunday preaching so much on Demon Rum that Christ got pushed out completely. Like Rush Limbaugh, Number One Fanboy of the War on Drugs while battling a secret Oxycontin addiction. Like Ted Haggard trying to out-Fred Phelps Fred Phelps until he got caught with a male prostie.
It’s especially bad if you’re a CELEBRITY Pastor-whatever. As a Christianese CELEBRITY, you cannot show any flaw or weakness at all. (Especially if you’re in a church culture that celebrates throwing its enemies under the bus.) You have to go it completely alone, self-treating your own problem in secret. And one day it all blows sky-high.

I suspect that has something to do with Forbidden Fruit becoming irresistible. Screaming “NO! NO! NO! THOU SHALT NOT!” increases the curiosity factor and makes whatever is Forbidden even more attractive.

When Phil Johnson said he’d try to read all of the initial Detwiler documents, I asked him to please read the survivor blogs because he’d get a much clearer picture from them. I don’t know if he did.
He thought that the Elephant Room problem was important because it involved doctrine (and it wasn’t a minor issue). He is a Christian apologist, and doctrine is his thing. But, of course, that doesn’t by definition leave out sympathy for the spiritually abused.
It’s odd in his case because he seems to be a good guy. I’m sorry he, in a sense, pulled a switch on you, Julie Anne.
I know that there are some who will say that it’s inevitable for a Calvinist to behave this way, but I think that’s very simplistic. People are complex.

These men are all about defending pastors, yet what’s weird is JMac definitely preaches about spiritual wolves. So it’s like they ignore their guru’s own teachings.

I read Pyro for several years and had to stop. The arrogance was astounding. Frank Turk is an embarrassment but they could not see it. Phil was not so bad but his doctrine was ridiculous. In the comments section of one thread he made the declarative statement that women should not address any doctrinal questioned asked by a man. She should always direct him to her husband. THEN he said his wife was well qualified to answer many doctrinal questions but it would be wrong of her to do it no matter where or who if he was a man. I mean the problems with his declaration are enormous. It basically says that if a man asks her about her faith in the park while walking his dog, she has to direct him to her husband. What if a woman is not married? Ask the man to wait while she tries to get her pastor on the phone?
What a wooden institutionalized Christianity they play at. Not the real thing at all.
These people are eat up with phallocentristic Christianity,

The BEST thing you can do is put a bug in people’s ear who support them that they should not have to check their brains at the door and they have a right to see detailed budget since they are paying for it all. It works. Try it. I have seen people who have been going to a church for 20 years ask to see a detailed budget, get the run around for months then finally after persisting they tell them no, and so they leave. Of course they are mad at themselves for being duped for 20 years or so but better to wake up at some point.. More and more folks are waking up to the fact they are paying for something they are told not to ask questions about and there is no accountability except a handful of yes men.
Money is the milk that feeds all this stuff.

Phil Johnson was very good at calling out the phony “masculinity” of Driscoll and his followers, and defining the real thing. Unfortunately, he does go too far, and into Piper territory, though I don’t think he makes complementarianism a gospel issue.

Some of the audio teaching of McArthur that Cheryl Schatz used on her Women in Ministry DVD were embarrassing for him. I could not believe what I was hearing. Stuff like long hair is a sin for men ala 1 Corin 11. (Did he not know about Pauls Nazarene vow/)
Anyway, there were quite a few examples including Eve enticed Adam to eat the fruit. I mean, he gets some stuff so wrong, I cannot take him seriously on anything else. He has an agenda.
