Just Moving In: Welcome!

Hey, I’ve got new digs.  Welcome to the new abode!  There ain’t no housewarming party just yet, and there’s much work to do (hanging pictures, painting, interior decorating, widgets, and all that sort of stuff), but I wanted to start the year with a fresh start on the first day of the year and to invite you to take a look anyway.   Please don’t get  too comfortable with the “look” just yet.  I’m a woman and most likely there will be some changing of furniture and rearranging of pictures until I get it just right.

My long-time readers know that I’ve been wanting to change the blog name for a while and I had intended to do it after the court hearing, but life kind of got in the way and I hadn’t settled on a name.   That was a daunting process (I think my last child was a week old before he was finally named, poor kid).  Anyway, I’m settling on Spiritual Sounding Board and after this place gets cleaned up, I’ll explain what that name means to me (and you!).

I think it is very important for me and those involved in my lawsuit (including former church members) to move along.  Tension seemed to be picking up recently, so from here on out, we are moving on.  If anyone happens to name the Pastor-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named or the Church-Which-Shall-Not-Be-Named, I will replace the names with generic words.

This is not to say that “they won”.  It’s not a matter of winning or losing at this point, but of pressing forward because it’s the right thing to do.

Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,   I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.   Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you.   Only let us hold true to what we have attained.

Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us.  For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ.  Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.  But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.  Philippians 3:12-21

This blog will continue to serve as a Sounding Board to what I see and what you see going around us in our churches and Christian communities that could are troublesome or could lead to spiritual abuse.  So many of my posts initiate from comments from YOU and e-mails from YOU.   I am looking forward to the New Year.

I’ve got some work to do.  Happy New Year!  Thank you for a great year in 2012.  Let’s press on!

  1. Welcome to WordPress, Julie Anne. Hope you find lots to like about your new digs! I’ve been here for over five years already and really like it. And may this new Spiritual Sounding Board blog be a blessing to many as they search along their journey with Jesus …

  2. Hey, Julie Anne! It’s Steve Scott. I see you’ve moved into the WordPress neighborhood (la-ti-da!). For some twisted reason with my Blogger account, I have had no available access to comments to any WP blog, even through facebook, etc. So I recently created a WP account just to access WP comments. So, just so you know, foulweatherfan is me, and the link links to links of my blogger blogs.

  3. Hey, Julie Anne! It’s Steve Scott. I have a love/hate relationship with WordPress as I’ve never been able to access it from any means, including Blogger and Facebook. The only way was to create a dummy WP account and link to the links that link to my Blogger blog. Or something like that. So, I guess if stevescottpew works to land on my regular Blogger blog, then I’m okay with that. Glad to hear of your new digs.

  4. LOL – I had a great time reading that last sentence. Hilarious! Welcome, Steve. So glad you came. I don’t see any “foulweatherfan”, but I do understand your frustration with WP and commenting. I was trying to comment on someone’s blog using my WP account today and had issues, too. Wassup with that, anyway? Well, at least you had success – 3 times, by the way, I deleted 2 of them. I couldn’t delete this one, it’s too funny 🙂

  5. Cool. I like the name, the web site, the streaming of comments together (prefer that, makes it easier to find the most recent ones). Good luck.

  8. Yes, the new house looks great! Hopefully you’ll find it’s a better neighborhood than your personal Voldemort and his little house in cyberspace.

I’m signed in under my writing blog, but the icon should give you a heads up on who I am as it’s what I use just about everywhere (including TWW). Pronounce the name; it sounds the same!

Looking forward to more discussion on spiritual abuse.

  9. Hey, Julie Anne, you have made some great progress–and over Christmas! Wow. Great to see everyone chiming in with their awesome greetings and encouragement for the future!

All the best for a New Year of growth and networking with others around the topic of spiritual abuse and recovery!

Wanted to inform people that my Church Exiters website has been in transition as well. My site developer has been busy at the task the past while. Wanted to let people know that my website email address still needs to be connected.

If anyone has been trying to connect with me using: info@churchexiters.com and not getting any response then this is the reason. Hoping to get everything working asap! Times of transition.

Moving to a new web site. I see you are taking the advice of plain speaking Harry S. Truman when he said, “If You Can’t Stand the Heat, Get Out of the Kitchen.”

  11. The original intent of BGBC was to tell my story. After the court victory, the blog direction moved away from BGBC and most of the stories were other than BGBC. It was the right time to change the title to accurately reflect the content. I don’t know about the heat, but I’m cool with the new blog/title. ~Julie Anne

She wrote a blog to expound
But the truth could not be found
    When it came out
    She left no doubt
To a place where lies can abound

  13. JULIANN–
I have a new forum in which I can spout
Mostly on things I know nothing about
My minutes of fame I really enjoyed
But my subjects were just mainly annoyed
But quite unexpectedly the truth was made known
Spiritual Sounding Board is now my new home

what a worthless troll you are, can’t even get your host’s name correct. Even manure can be used for fertilizer — YOU are totally without value.
