Do you know what’s worse than a maliciously sued woman? A group of maliciously sued women partying!
I’ve been having fun reading news articles, comments, and blog posts regarding the case. If you recall, 4 out of the 5 defendants were female. The male was dismissed from the case even before the first hearing. Our attorney is a female. I’ve been rebuked publicly for speaking out as a woman. I’ve been asked if I had my husband’s permission to blog. Some wannabe high profile person in a high profile church has mentioned my name in several posts and discussing women and their spiritual abuse blogs. I’ve been referred to as whiny and complaining. You get the message.
Well, the three of us women aren’t whining and complaining, that’s for sure. We are in a celebratory mood and have brought in a little music to the par-TAY.
This comment cracked me up.
I chose Celebration by Kool & the Gang. My husband and I saw Kool & the Gang live in concert when living in the Philippines during a very difficult time of terrorism, base restrictions, curfews, etc. The USO brought them in to lift the spirits of servicemen and dependents. Oh yea, there was a celebration and now the song is so appropriate to end this nearly 5-month fiasco. So come on, everybody, let’s celebrate and have a good time.
And for Hannah – I’ve indoctrinated my kids to some of my favorite music and this next song was part of our “Kitchen Dance Music” playlist collection – music that the kids would play when doing dishes. Hannah selected KC and the Sunshine Band, “That’s the Way I Like It”. Oh yea, baby. You’ll definitely have to stand up while playing this. JA is groovin’ here.

I suppose many of us from funda-bapti-indie-costal backgrounds were admonished not to dance. Ever.However, may we declare ourselves Blessedbyterians for a day, in which case I'm sure we're allowed to rock out with dancin'. (As long as disco/polyester are not involved, I'm assuming.)Regardless, a "happy dance" session seems quite in order, regardless of our dancenominational background.Celebratin' with all y'all on this very blessed day …

Ohhhh, we gotta get them words in the new revised dictionary. I love it. I am always reminded of the movie footloose in regards to the fight to dance, and that David danced before the Lord. So how can the no dancing rule not apply to David? 2 Samuel 6:14And David danced before the Lord with all his might…To the legalistic, Oh, my!! David had no shame in dancing before the Lord.

very smart, brad, very smart! and, Yeah, Ed, i thought of Footloose many times in the past few months while on this blogalso, David played musical instruments before the LORD! i make this observation because the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America (who is behind the sick fundamentalist seminary in Pittsburgh) do not believe it’s proper to play musical instruments in church. At http://reformedpresbyterian.org/convictions.html they write: “In keeping with the New Testament Church’s directive for heart worship, we sing without the aid of musical instruments.”one of the ironies here is that this seminary also promotes Christian Reconstructionism, that is, they are seeking the power to forcefully bring in the Kingdom of God and subject everyone in the world to their interpretation of Old Testament law. the absurdities in the fundi world abound! monax

Speaking of the movie, Footloose, a United Pentecostal Church pastor was a part of the real life story upon which it was based. Quoting from the online source linked to here: "As the Rev. F.R. brad, I’m certain you are more qualified to answer your question than I. Nearly twenty years ago I made a small study of the dominionist/reconstructionist movement before they established their present stronghold in the church. And as iron does not hold together with clay I never imagined this ideology finding such a foothold within the church. But it has. And I bring it up in your presence because I’m wanting to be more educated on the phenomenon than I am. see my thoughts here

Here's what I wrote in 2009 about Dominionism that lies underneath much (not all) of the Seven Mountains Movement. It is typically the post with the most hits, over 2000 a year, I think last time I calculated it. Anyway, the way I see Dominionism/Reconstructionism, it puts Christians in charge of culture and the best that could be would be moralism. I'm not sure that's what being "salt and light" is all about, or was meant to be about. Israel as a nation was about legitimate cultural imperialism and the Mosaic Law as the code for their country. I heard it on the radio, probably when you were just a wee lass. It always hit home with me even then, but has more and more over the decades and especially after my husband helped pull the wool over his own eyes, becoming a zombie-clone; Steve Taylor must have been in a place similar to where we on this site have been; I see now that maybe it was a "calling"–so we could warn and or encourage the other sheep out there. Thanks for your labor of love here. Humor HAS to be one of His gifts to us since He is the author of every good gift, right? I'm glad I could help bring you a laugh.
